Currently, there are many options available for converting design to code. Although many companies offer hand coded PSD to HTML conversion services, there are many people who prefer automated tools to convert their designs.

Using software tools for converting PSD to HTML can be a positive experience, especially for not very complex designs. And one does not have to worry about the coding or communicating with a company to make sure the design is implemented correctly.

However, many designers find out that such tools appear to be somewhat limited, especially when it comes to more complex layouts and navigation capabilities:

  1. Most software tools seem to fall short, especially if users want to format visited links, add heading tags, or create sub-directories and anchors.
  2. More complex projects typically require W3C valid code, which software tools currently do not create.
  3. A clean and beautiful format is more difficult to obtain.
  4. The capability to edit pages in the future, after going live, is not available.
  5. Having pages converted to HTML is just a first step in creating a live website. In order to create a website, basic knowledge of CSS and JavaScript, some custom programming, plug-ins implementations and if needed, the configuration of a CMS, etc, are required.

Keep in mind your goals and your vision! Because you care about the quality and look of your designs, you need to make sure of the quality of your code. So, when you are seeking perfect pixel HTML markup, find someone who specializes in it and have them do it for you.  It will bring out the best in your design.

There is no software capable of delivering higher quality than a good web developer who knows the web standards and who is able to code beautiful designs with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
